Kelly D started this petition to Frederick County, County Executive Jan Gardner and

Frederick County Executive, Jan Gardner, wants to build a 152 unit senior (62+) workforce housing building in the middle of the Linton at Ballenger community. The proposed building is far too large for the small 4.5 acre plot of land. This land backs up directly to the Tuscarora Elementary school and is in the middle of an extremely congested neighborhood filled with townhomes, condos, and single-family homes.

By building this massive building, it will be adding 300+ residents to a neighborhood that is already filled with thousands of residents. Traffic is the biggest concern for all of us who live in the neighborhood at this time. Alan Linton Blvd is a very narrow road and at times is difficult for two cars to pass one another. Alan Linton Blvd is also a road where a lot of cars speed and use it as a "cut through" road from English Muffin Way to Ballenger Creek Pike.

This land is owned by the county, however, the county should consider alternative uses of this land before building a massive building. This land should be used to possibly build the following: A park for children to play at before and after school; A dog park where dogs have a space to run around and play; A Small pavilion where families can gather and celebrate one another. These are all things that this land could be. Things that will help unite this community and allow us to grow.

If this senior workforce housing is built it will only continue to divide and anger our community. We need to unite together and stand up for what is right and what is best for our community! Only we know what is best for our community, not the county executive who doesn't live in this development. Please sign below to help us stop this senior workforce housing from being built in our community and help us get a park instead!

Thank you!
