Save the Center for International Studies at Saint Louis University

Saint Louis University and its student have greatly benefited from our International Studies Program for the last 20 years. Dr. Borgmeyer and his colleagues have inspired thousands of students in their endeavour to globalize their studies, as well as hold true the Diversity & Inclusion aspects of SLU's mission. While the university is in the process of/finished building two new dorms and completely renovating the Library at the expense of millions of dollars, as important as these resources are, it is also laying off hundreds of valued professors and is completely dissolving the Center for International Studies, which comparatively cost next to nothing. The students vehemently oppose this move by the university, and we seek through this petition to (at minimum) save the Center for International Studies and staff.
*Edited to correct for errors: Our understanding of the situation is that the International Studies Major will be moving under Political Science and the ISTD faculty and staff will be laid off, now or after one year terminal contracts. International Studies will lose its autonomy and the programming that are integral to the Center.
*This petition is in no way supported, endorsed, or approved by the faculty and staff of the International Studies Department or Center for International Studies; this petition is supported by myself, as an international studies student and president of Sigma Iota Rho which is the honor society of International Studies, and students like me*
