Make Moose Jaw plastic bag free

Here in Moose Jaw, plastic bag pollution clogs our sewer drains and collects in our trees and bushes, parks and farmland. Just take a look around and find the bags in every corner of our city.  We can continue to clean up this litter, day after day, or we could eliminate the entire waste stream at the source.

In April, Peacock Collegiate teacher Stephen Lys, and his Environmental Science class, collected 63,000 plastic bags from our community. Through their efforts, students and community members have raised awareness of the problems of single use plastics. The class visited Moose Jaw City Hall to ask City Council to ban single use plastic bags. They hope our community will follow in the path of other successful cities like Montreal and Victoria as well as the provinces of PEI and Newfoundland and Labrador.

The stewardship of the earth is our responsibility. Please consider supporting this petition and sharing it to make Moose Jaw plastic bag free. Thank you!
