FrapapaBet, a Nigerian bookie has a fantastic feature on their website which they call #RequestYourOdds.

This feature gives bettors the power to request whatever betting option that is not already on the site and FrapapaBet upon approval from their trading team will assign odds to the betting option and make it available to bettors.

A twitter user had requested for an option: Away teams on Tuesday and Wednesday Champions League matches to have more goals than Home teams. On the 4th of September 2022, FrapapaBet confirmed via a tweet that the request was now available on their website. The option was also assigned 301 odds.

In response to the tweet posted by FrapapaBet, a twitter user with the ID @Korope_driver asked if the option meant "the whole away team goals combined or is it individually", in response to that, FrapapaBet stated that they meant "the entire away team", and they went further to say "ALL of them combine". It is based on this response that a lot of bettors went on to place their bets on the option.

However, after the matches ended, the bookie marked the bets as a loss and claimed that they had meant "every away team must win". If this was what they truly meant, they could have used either of the following statements:

1. Each Away team on Tuesday and Wednesday Champions League matches to have more goals than Home teams.
2. Every Away team on Tuesday and Wednesday Champions League matches to have more goals than Home teams.

Using the determiners "each" or "every" or even the phrase "each and every" would have certainly erased any ambiguity!

In the end, I see this as intentionally conning bettors into placing bets on their sites by making a misleading public statement.

A lot of bettors have now lost money of varying amounts as the bookie are insisting the bets are lost and as such are not obliged to pay.

This bookie also had a similar bet option still on the Champions League matches - All the home teams in Wednesday champions league games to have more goals than the away teams. The matches indeed ended with the Home teams having more goals than the Away teams, but the bookie also marked this as a loss.

We need the National Lottery Regulatory Commission (NLRC) to get FrapapaBet to pay all bettors who placed a bet on those options because taking peoples monies using misleading information is tantamount to fraud.
