Dear Franklinville community,

I'm writing to you today as a 2020 senior who has been in school for thirteen years now, and have been looking forward to the end tell all moment.  In walking across the stage with my friends to receive my diploma.

Ten Broeck Academy's first graduating class was in 1870 and ever year after that there's been a graduation, and this year there should be no exception.  I do understand that we're in unprecedented circumstances at the moment with COVID-19,  and the matter is to be taken seriously but we can take this seriously and still graduate.

We can hold graduation on the field, now hear me out.

If essential workers are allowed at work with masks and gloves an are able to stand six feet apart from each other day in and day out why can't we do this for a simple ceremony.  We should be able to come together as a community and SUPPORT the 2020 class and their wishes.  Not one student should be made to come to graduation if they're not up to it but every student that wants to be able to walk in the ceremony should have that opportunity.

Now all of us students can stand six feet or sit  six feet from each other on the field.  And parents should be allowed to park their cars and gather around and stay in their cars to watch the ceremony.  And a photographer be present to record and have the videos available for people that couldn't make it.  Our goal is to make this safe for the community and ourselves.  Thank you for hearing the class of 2020 out and supporting them in their wishes on what still can be and amazing day.
