Save South Middle School

We the undersigned ask that you vote AGAINST any plan to close our middle schools and merge them into one large combined school. It is a well-known fact that students do better in smaller schools, where they have more individual attention and more opportunities to shine. In addition, it creates a hardship for parents to drive longer distances to take their children to after-school activities and events when there is only one school located farther away from their home.
We have been told that one of the reasons for closing South Middle and merging is that it is too expensive to build two new schools at the same time, and both of our current schools are in bad physical shape.
But both schools do not have to be replaced at the same time. Wouldn’t it be more prudent to replace one first, then the other?
Therefore we declare, right now, that even if we have to wait, even if you decide to replace North first and then South a few years down the road, we would rather see that happen then to have our school closed forever.
