Bring Fatima Bakhshi and her sons to Ireland to reunite with their family

Fatima Bakhshi has endured impossible loss and her suffering continues today. But there is an easy solution to transform her life.
26‐year‐old Fatima left her Afghan home, fleeing her violent husband and father with her mother Nadia and Fatima's two sons. But their escape suffered a horrific tragedy.
They were all crammed into an overladen vehicle driven by people smugglers in the Balkans when there was a crash that killed Fatima’s mother and left Fatima having her two legs amputated.
When Fatima woke up after the accident, she was alone. Her two sons, nine‐year‐old Shoaib and four‐year‐old Ahmed, were in a different ward of the Niš Clinical Centre and it took days before they reunited. The boys wanted their grandmother and they were begging that their mother’s legs would grow back.
The three of them now live in an old people’s home in the quiet town of Doljevac, outside Niš in south‐eastern Serbia. They do not share any language with the fellow residents. They spend all their days in one room.
But Fatima has hope.
She is desperate to be united with her extended family in Ireland. Her uncles and cousins are Irish citizens and among 50 members of Fatima’s family currently living in Ireland. Fatima wants to bring her sons to Ireland, but she has been told that it is unlikely because the UNHCR does not currently have a resettlement quota for Ireland. Instead, she is likely to be relocated to another unfamiliar third country where she has no family ties and she and her children will be completely alone.
But the Irish government can make arrangements for Fatima to be relocated to Ireland, to have a real home and family again in her life.
We need to persuade them.

Dear Minister,
Please consider the urgent resettlement of Fatima Bakhshi and her two young sons to Ireland from Serbia, to reunite them with their many family members in Ireland. This is an exceptional case and an opportunity to show Ireland’s real humanity to this young family who have suffered the most devastating family tragedy.
Yours sincerely,
