Hello City of Framingham, there has recently been a move made from the Mayor of Framingham, Yvonne Spicer, and the Health Director, Sam Wong, they are planning on canceling Halloween for the whole entire City of Framingham on October 31st, 2019. They believe the EEE risk will put everyone at risk for getting the disease. (EEE stands for Eastern equine encephalitis) This disease can be fatal most of the time, but there has been no reported cases of Humans having this disease however, our City has tested positive for EEE. Recommendations are for everyone to use Bug Spray if you do plan on going outside for extra precaution. Here’s the problem with this rule they’re planning here, they’re allowing outdoor sports to continue on. (Football, Soccer, Golf, Lacrosse, etc.) Yet we can’t go outside and do what kids love? This doesn’t make sense. We the Citizens of Framingham should be allowed to continue our traditions and not be stopped by Government regardless of health threats. We have supplies that can prevent this issue from occurring, if outdoor fall sports are allowed to continue regardless of the EEE risk, then so should Halloween! Halloween is a tradition us kids love very much, and if it is taken away from us, we will be restricted to our homes and will not be able to enjoy the fun times we’ve had for all our lives, so if you want to keep Halloween in Framingham, Massachusetts. Please sign this, and send it to everyone you know so it can get the Mayors attention.
