Demand Fox News Boycott Future Press Briefings

In 2009, President Obama's Treasury Department tried to exclude Fox News from a round of interviews with then-executive pay czar Kenneth R. Feinberg. Every mainstream news network leapt to Fox's defense, vowing not to attend future press briefings unless they included news outlets from all sides of the spectrum.
Cut to 2017, and Press Secretary Sean Spicer, in a far more sinister move, today banned the New York Times, CNN, BuzzFeed, and Politico from a private gaggle of reporters. Other news outlets less critical of the President - primarily conservative outlets including Fox News, Breitbart, the Wall Street Journal, the Washington Times, and the One America News Network - were allowed in.
The move follows months of attacks on the press from the White House, including President Trump himself calling the press the "enemy of the people."
The Wall Street Journal, to its credit, has already vowed not to participate in future news briefings if other outlets are again banned. Now it's Fox's turn. It would be the height of hypocrisy to stay silent while fellow media outlets are being singled out.
An attack on one reporter is an attack on all reporters. It's time for Fox to show a backbone.
