Why this petition matters

WATER

The greater Fourways community has experienced shocking service delivery on issues of water over the last few years, with water outages at least monthly, if not twice or three times PER MONTH.

There is no urgency attached to it, and promises and lies are the default communication.

ELECTRICITY

While the whole country is gripped by loadshedding, Fourways residents continue to experience inexplicable power interruptions, and the events of last week traumatised our 'town' so much so that you could say it pushed people beyond their tolerance levels.

Communication, or lack thereof is not seen as something we are entitled to. If it was not for one of our Councillor's, we would have zero idea of what is going on.

UNLIKE OTHER PARTS OF GAUTENG, FOURWAYS RESIDENTS HAVE A REPUTATION OF PAYING RATES, IN GENERAL, SO IN THE SPIRIT OF PAYING FOR SERVICES*, WE DEMAND HOLISTIC RESOLUTION.

NO MORE WATER OUTAGES.

WE WILL NOT TOLERATE ELECTRICITY INTERRUPTIONS OVER & ABOVE LOADSHEDDING, ANY LONGER.

WE WANT A TIMELINE AND A DEADLINE FOR COMPLETE RESOLUTION.

*ACCESS TO WATER IS A BASIC HUMAN RIGHT, ACCORDING TO UN RESOLUTION 64/292, SO ITS ACTUALLY NOT A SERVICE - BUT FOR THIS PURPOSE, LET'S REFER TO IT (FOR NOW) AS A SERVICE.
