Chip Seal Cades Hollow Rd

Chip Seal Cades Hollow Rd
My husband and I are residents off of Cades Hollow Road. We drive the road, both directions, multiple times a day and it is the only way to reach our house. Having been residents/land owners there for over a year now, it’s become evident of the lack of sustainability of Cades Hollow Rd.
We have several farmers that haul equipment on this road to gain access to their fields. We have other residents, and a few land owners, that also use this road on a regular basis. 5 of those households, cannot be reached without driving on Cades Hollow. In addition, now that the covered bridge has been deemed a Historic Landmark - the traffic during the warm months will remain high as they use the bridge to access Coal Creek for fishing and kayaking.
It should also be noted that Cades Hollow Road is part of a very convenient short-cut to 32 and the Kingman area when leaving Covington. It’s evident that it is utilized for this several times a day.
Because of the traffic on this road, gravel is simply not a long term solution. The high amount of traffic it gets and the loads carried by those that utilize it, we believe, has caused the road to “wash board”. It does so within weeks after receiving fresh gravel. Additionally, there are several pot holes that resurface after any amount of notable rain.
Because we value our vehicles, as well as those of all the other residents, land owners, bridge visitors, and even those simply cutting through, in addition to the very valuable farming equipment that makes its way down Cades Hollow Road - we are asking the Fountain County Commissioners to take action and approve a solution for Cades Hollow Road (such as chip seal asphalt).
If you are a resident, land wonder, farmer, or frequent driver of Cades Hollow and reside in Fountain County I urge you to sign our petition to help show the Commissioners office just how wide-spread this concern is.
*Edit to note: This is the first step I’ve taken in regards to the matter. I felt it was best to approach the Commissioners after I had the support of several others - in order to show the true concern expressed by those in the county - and not just myself and family.
