Wisconsin DFC: Reform Foster Care System

Wisconsin DFC: Reform Foster Care System
Why this petition matters

Roe vs. Wade was overturned on June 24th, 2022. As we all know, this has impacted many lives and now there's definitely a possibility that the Foster Care System is going to be overburdened by so many kids that will definitely need a home because the parent/parents won't be able to take care of them.
Our government just sees those as "statistical numbers." There are 450,000+ kids in the Foster Care System as of 2019 and I have a feeling that it's going to be overburdened. I was in the system at 13 days old but I was pretty much one of the 1 in a million newborns that had found their forever home. My family has multiple people that have been in the foster care system and they have been adopted by my amazing family.
This has been my major concern because if the system is going to have thousands and thousands of kids, who's going to take them? Who's going to care for them? There are a lot of unknown answers since this has been a broken system for decades.
These kids may have mixed emotions about where their next home will be, and where will their minds take them (depression, anxiety, drugs/alcohol, etc). This system has been broken for many, many years and I believe that it's time to reform this system and make it more affordable to adopt; I want to be an advocate for the Foster Care children who need a role model in their life and I want them to have their forever home that they have been looking forward to every second of their life.
This petition, I'm hoping will get to the state level first and then the federal level. We need to start bringing down that big number and start getting what those kids need. They need a family that loves them, the support they need as kids, they need to make new foster family members, new friends, and eventually that family they long for.
This petition will need all the help I can get to start getting the word out for people to foster and adopt! My vision is to get the cost of adoption down (which is approx. $45,000 in the United States), the resources families need to foster and the process of adoption, and tell my story and other people's stories that will help the families get to understand what it's like to know people that have witnessed adoption firsthand or witness it themselves.
The only people that can start doing something are you and me. The most powerful people can start something and light the flame that can burn everything that it comes across. Then, it will be going to the state level and if that goes through without hesitation, then it'll come down to our federal government in Washington D.C.
But if this petition doesn't go through we need to start trying harder for these kids. If this goes through, I will be bringing it to the federal level and making a statement to Congress and the House of Representatives that I'm sure both sides of the aisle can agree on.
Overall, I will be fighting for the kids in the Foster Care system as best as I can, I will be an advocate, and I will make sure those kids get that forever family they have been longing for. This is definitely a critical time in my life to start this petition and get a hold of what was once a wonderful act of kindness to do and turn this broken system back to what it once was... Hope. Loving and caring families. Dreams coming true in the lives of kids who desperately want a place to officially call home.
