Stop Short Term Rentals like AirBnB and VRBO from taking over Rio Vista

Stop Short Term Rentals like AirBnB and VRBO from taking over Rio Vista
Why this petition matters
This petition is to help all of our families in a single-family residential zone feel safe and comfortable again in their Rio Vista neighborhood. AirBnB and VRBO are some that offer nightly short-term rentals, and are having a huge impact on families like mine. So many neighborhoods in the tri-county area have come together recently to change their laws to stop this problem. We have residential neighborhoods to feel comfortable and safe to raise our families and be outdoors with the comfort of knowing the people in your neighborhood. With AirBnB and VRBO, how can you know who is in the House next to you ? Renting rooms by the night can attract all kinds of people.
Check out Airbnb and VRBO. Anyone can rent a room or enjoy a person's backyard for a small fee in an area that is for families and children who want to feel safe and confident knowing who their neighbors are! Neighborhoods like Miami Shores and Wellington have found this home business inappropriate. Why would it be ok in our Rio Vista neighborhood?
Let’s get this city’s code to change and begin to feel safe and confident in our neighborhood once again ! Please sign this petition to help be a part of this important movement to stop transient rentals where they do not belong ! Hotels and motels are not for Residential areas !!! Airbnb should not be in Rio Vista! If it is not curbed or elimited soon, Rio Vista will be full of nightly rentals due its proximity to downtown, the beach, and the airport! Sign below before your neighbor legally decides to rent-out rooms by the night like mine did. You don't want to be in that position. Please help!
I plan to send this along with a strong message to our mayor, local government and city planning members. The movement has already begun.....let's come together as a Community to do what is best for all of our families!
Thank you!
