Mr. Daniels, my former English teacher, needs to be held accountable for his unorthodox and ineffective teaching style and grading rationale. He does not grade assignments based on content but instead gives completely arbitrary grades. He doesn't teach. At all. All he does is facilitate classroom discussions and usher homework, quizzes, and tests, all of which he assigns completely unfair and undeserved grades. During discussions, he puts down his students' opinions and uses his position of authority to make them agree with his worldview. He laughs at us constantly as well. Completion grades in his class are never 100s, instead he gives random values. He does not have rubrics available to students nor does he offer feedback for grades and results. Daniels also assigns notes on videos created by other AP Lang teachers as a way to not teach. In addition, he makes us read articles and do the same assignment for each of them, which is not on the AP Lang rubric. Another excuse for him to not grade. He never assists us with actual AP Lang concepts like FRQ writing or analyzing multiple choice questions or passages. He consistently assigns collegeboard quizzes without giving us notice or preparing us. This results in a large number of failing results. He does not care. The first quiz was a no count with an average in my class of a 24, and he applied the grade on Wednesday, crippling our grades further. He does not care. I have tried to communicate to Mr. Daniels my grievances, but he fails to listen or understand. When confronted by my mother on Wednesday, he told her my sister and I were lying to her and ignored my grading issue. Please sign if you have ever had Daniels as documentation that you have grievances with him as well. Be sure to report to the principal. Contact me please at michaelcogu@gmail.com.
