Increase Funding for International Development

We, the undersigned, petition governments of the Organization of Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) to renew their commitment to funding and implementing programs that seek to remedy deep, entrenched poverty in the world’s most impoverished countries.
The Fund for Peace’s Bottom 100 project demonstrates that much of the world’s poverty is fueled by conflict and displacement. We recognize the threat that conflict and displacement poses not only to those directly affected in those most impoverished countries, but also the threat that conflict and displacement poses to all countries around the world, due to regional instability, the increased risk of organized crime, terrorism, or pandemics, and pressures from massive population flows. The Bottom 100 also demonstrates the hope that can be generated by sustainable economic development programs, as we recognize that economic development will be the engine that drives higher living standards.
We demand that the world’s developed countries make poverty alleviation a global priority, and in doing so, maintain or increase funding to international development programs designed to prevent or mitigate conflict and displacement, and to support economic development.
