Force NZ Uniform Suppliers To Produce Transparent Evidence Of Their Supply Chain

Force NZ Uniform Suppliers To Produce Transparent Evidence Of Their Supply Chain
Why this petition matters
Over 46% of schools in New Zealand are required to wear uniforms everyday. These uniforms tend to be expensive, uncomfortable and made in third world countries where the unfair work conditions are no secret.
I personally attend a where we are required to wear uniforms, which firstly over my 7 years of schooling has come at a cost of nearly $2000 but secondly is all made in Fiji.
We all know Fiji for is gorgeous beaches, resorts and marine life. But Fiji is also known for modern slavery, where unfair wages are payed, excessive hours are worked and children are forced to work.
I am petitioning for all uniform companies to be transparent about their supply chain and production process. In order to ensure us that the uniform we wear everyday is made by people who are treated fairly with respect.
There are some suppliers who do clearly state this on their websites, but others completely avoid the topic. Even if it's designed in New Zealand for New Zealand students, the environment it was made in is what matters most.
