Why this petition matters

Started by Stephen OG

The Government needs to make Heathrow Airport Management accountable for the additional out of pocket expenses customers are having to pay for new flights, accommodation, transportation and costs involved due to the chaos caused by late decisions. On the main Heathrow website, their ceo said the following:

"By making this intervention now, our objective is to protect flights for the vast majority of passengers at Heathrow this summer and to give confidence that everyone who does travel through the airport will have a safe and reliable journey."

What Heathrow has not said is how customers affected by these decisions can claim back their additional out of pocket expenses,. This is where the Government needs to step in and force this Company to reimburse costs. Airlines are not offering compensation and travel insurance companies will be denying claims all day long.

In our case, due to Heathrows rules, Avianca Airlines changed our flight to Colombia from 22 July to 4 August, that's nearly two weeks lost of our holiday. The airline refused to put us on a flight to Europe to get a connecting flight, all they offered was a free of charge date change flying from Madrid. This cost us an additional £1000 pounds on one way flights, which nor Avianca nor Heathrow Airport will reimburse.

This is now down to Grant Shapps, Transport Minister! He needs to force Heathrow Management to set up a refunds line or system as soon as possible and ask for John H-K to resign and refuse a leaving bonus.

If you've been affected by this crisis, contact your MP and ask that the Government gets involved in this issue as right now our Airports are the laughing stock all over the world.

Thank you for sharing this petition and let's stand up for our passenger rights.
