For schools to shorten hours spent in school
For schools to shorten hours spent in school

I don't know about other schools around the U.S, but most schools where I live require us to be in school for about 7 hours a day or more. This amount is just absurd and the higher hours affect students negatively. Its impacted our mental and physical health with the lack of sleep and stress from homework, classwork, and tests. I spent about 70 minutes a day in each period (I have 5), school starts at 8 and ends at 3:05. Even just shaving a mere 10 minutes off our time spent in class would be beneficial. Getting rid of 10 minutes off each period would take away 50 minutes of class time, ultimately ending school at 2:15. Lessons would still be effective for 10 minutes doesn't really affect most lessons due to it being such a short amount of time. The longer periods bore students and make the learning much less effective. Quicker and shorter lessons will help most students learn much more effectively.
This claim has tons of evidence to back it up as well, take it from Finland's education system. They go to school 5 hours a day and they also have a better reputation for how happy and smart their students are.
Here is a ted talk on our education system and Finland's education system: https://youtu.be/BqURd0nvc9E
There are also many other videos and articles on the downsides of our education system, that you can look into on your own time if you'd like. But, that is all I would like to say here today and I really hope that my point has gotten across to everyone. Thank you for reading.
