UGC NET ASPIRANTS started this petition to For qualifying Assistant professor and junior researc

UGC through NTA is conducting National eligibility test for Assistant Professor and Junior Research fellowship two times once a year. The eligibility for Assistant Professor or for both Junior Research Fellowship and Assistant Professor will depend on the performance of the candidate in both the papers of UGC-NET in aggregate. There is a lacuna in this exam that candidates are those who already qualified can also apply for the next exam. Those who do this practice advertisement to social media for credit of their online coaching classes for UGC Net.  This makes UGC aspirants difficult in qualifying because

As per the notification of NTA, only 6% of the candidates appearing for the NET will qualify the exam and become eligible for the entry-level post of Assistant Professor. There is a category wise reservation policy that will be applied to these 6% qualified candidates for final selection.

The Junior Research Fellowship is given from this 6% result. It is a common trend of this exam that people who clear NET exam try for NET Junior Research Fellowship and being a NET qualified spoil one seat of NET aspirant since UGC has no mechanism to separately allow the NET JRF candidates to compete for NET JRF Fellowship and have no mechanism to check if a NET JRF candidate again clears NET exam out of the total pool of 6% candidates which in turn results in candidates clearing NET exam twice, thrice or more just to clear NET JRF exam and in turn spoil the seats of candidates out of 6% total candidates allowed to clear UGC-NET exam, thereby resulting in a shortage of competent and eligible faculty in universities and colleges across India.
