Hello, my name is Sarth and I am a primary school student who is working on a group project on Food Wastage. My group (FWT) and I want to put an end to food wastage so our Earth can become greener and healthier. Please help me by signing this petition. Now let us get started.

So, what is food wastage? Food wastage is when people don't finish off their food and it gets wasted. The wasted food ends up in landfill and produces methane gas which is roughly 30 times more deadly than carbon dioxide. Moreover, when wasting food you also waste 3 valuable sources called water, fuel, and energy which all play a huge role in producing greenhouse gases.

Now you may be wondering, who wastes the most food? You might think it is restaurants or supermarkets but you would be wrong. It is actually us! Yes that is right - You and Me!  Research shows that 44% of all food wastage is from residential people, then restaurants, which would take up 33%. Third would be grocery stores who will cover 11%. Institutions would be next and occupy 10% and lastly industrial waste is 2%.

Now we know which people waste the most food so let's look at which country wastes the most food. You may think that the country that wastes the most food is America or China but think again because you are wrong. The country that wastes the most food is ........(drum roll)... AUSTRALIA! Yep, you heard it right, it is Australia, not the USA. You might go and research and discover that the USA waste more food than Australia but if you look at it per capita, Australia is the worst culprit.

Anyway, that is all I can tell you about food wastage. Make sure you smash that sign button and help save our gorgeous planet!
