USD’s Climate Alliance group aims to bring awareness to students on campus about ways our community can give back and help our planet. Our group, The Factory Farming Initiative, has found that most people on campus do not know where our food comes from, specifically our meat products. However, the majority of the meat industry is produced in factory farms, which are designed to maximize profit and product while minimizing the costs for the organization. While this may seem beneficial, the factory farming industry is promoting animal abuse, environmental damage, and human exploitation. This petition was created for the students on campus who care about finding sustainable sources of meat and making sure that our campus is sourcing its products ethically.
