Arpan Verma, a student of National Law University, Delhi, visited Cafe Coffee Day, Hawamahal Outlet at Jaipur on 12th March. When he noticed cokroaches in the fridge from which the food was served to the customers, he obejcted and when his objections went unheard, he started recording the video of the cockroaches evident in the fridge and the lady employee who did not pay any heed to his objections got agitated and slapped Arpan and threatened him of consequences. If this was not enough, the lady employee who slapped Arpan filed FIR for criminal intimidation, voluntarily causing hurt and assault with the intention of outraging the modesty against Arpan.
Even after acknowledging the incident on the facebook and twitter account, cafe coffee day neither informed what action they took against the erring lady employee nor did they own any responsibility for the bad state of hygeine in the Hawamahal Jaipur outlet and the measures they took to mend it.
The story has been top trending topic on twitter and has been reported by all the media houses and received a massive public outrage. Inspite of this, after more than a month of this incident, Cafe Coffee Day has started promoting the products on official facebook and twitter page, without giving any information on the action taken in this regard.
This behaviour of Cafe Coffee Day is not only suggestive of lack of basic respect for consumers but also promotes and encourages their employees to go to any extent(slapping a customer and filing sexual harassment case for pointing cockroaches) to justify their actions without having any concern whatsoever for the health of the consumers by letting them eat contaminated food.
Sign this petition so that the concerned ministries/authorities take cognizance of the matter and some affirmative action be taken to discard the unfair trade practices adopted by the Cafe Coffee Day.
