Stop the use of Ketamine

Stop the use of Ketamine
After reading the article #elijahmcclain I was disturbed to know that the drug ketamine had been administered in the field by medics under the direction of a police officer. The gentlemen’s medical history, allergies, etc. were not obtained and to administer a powerful drug under the circumstances is absurd! Police officers should not be allowed to give this direction. Administration of medication without proper assessment, direction and a direct order from a licensed physician as a field practice should be stopped immediately and the use of this drug put on hold until a more extensive study be conducted for safe use in the field. Surely the police or medic trained personnel should not be appointed this task! In the hospital setting the patient is monitored during the administration of this drug secondary to its unpredictably. To think this young man was injected against his will, guessing his weight which was almost double what he actually weighed is criminal, suspect, malpractice and in very poor judgement. When administering a medication such as ketamine or any other drug in the field guessing should not be a part of the assessment and the administration of such a drug should not be considered. Given the lengthy list of side effects including cardiovascular affects of abnormal heart rhythms, slow heart rate or fast heart rate, high blood pressure or low blood pressure the drug should NOT be administered.
i am hopeful that this practice will be abolished in light of the senseless death of #elijahmcclain. The cause of death should not be inconclusive given the circumstances
that this gentleman received an overdose and his medical history was not a consideration!
Murder by injection, choke hold or both. Justice for #elijahmcclain
