Stop Animal Testing!
Stop Animal Testing!
In laboratories across the world, millions of animals are locked in cages, such as mice, rats, primates, and birds. They continue to remain trapped and suffer through immense pain, disappointment, and isolation. This is all in order to create products in cosmetics, skin care, drugs, food, and etcetera. In the United States alone, 100 million animals, that are being used in testing, become crippled, burned, poisoned, and overall abused and tortured in labs. The animals that fall under the protection of the Animal Welfare Act (AWA) such as cats, dogs, rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, and monkeys can even be abused and tortured as well. The AWA doesn’t even consider mice, rats, and birds as animals, so they become the ones tested on the most. The National Institutes of Health (NIH) has observed that 95% of all drugs tested effectively in animal testings fail in human trials because they don't work or are dangerous. Millions in government funds are also wasted in these testings. People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) found $56.4 million of government funds spent on animal experiments that, despite running over many years, failed to provide any useful results.
Animals that have to endure through such testings have to waste their lives away in labs being tortured without anesthesia. They can be electrocuted, starved, mutilated, drowned, blinded and dissected. The worst part is that it is all legal. Why should these animals have to suffer and potentially die in order for humans to have products that can be made without them anyway? Having to go through these procedures can cause the animals to develop psychotic behavior such as spinning in circles, biting themselves, and pulling out their own hair. It is inhumane and unethical treatment.
We cannot allow any of this treatment to go on. We must make a change and fight for these animals! Alternatives to animal testing are tests using human cells and tissues (also known as in vitro methods), advanced computer-modeling techniques (often referred to as in silico models), and studies with human volunteers. Some ways to help are by donating to charities that help support the banning of animal testing, buying products that haven’t been tested on animals, educating others, and spreading the word!
By signing this petition you are raising awareness to the issue of banning all animal testing.
