Why this petition matters

I'm asking that Restaurants be required to get educated in food allergies so that they understand the real threat that people with food allergies face. Also require restaurants, bakeries, and anyone in the food industry to list the allergens on their menus or post it visibly on food displays (bakery, cakes, etc.). This way, many people who suffer life threatening allergies won't have to constantly ask about the potential allergens in their food and the employees of the restaurant won't have to "check," and this will lead to less miscommunication about the food.

Unfortunately, people who have life-threatening food allergies do not feel that their disability is taken seriously. Other countries have policies in place that require the top allergens to be listed on menus.

It is especially difficult to communicate how dangerous food allergies are with some restaurants who have a language barrier. If this becomes law, then there would be translation in any language needed to make sure the restaurant is clear on the concept.

Hopefully, this will help those with food allergies be safer overall.
