The EpiPen is a medical device used to treat anaphylaxis by injecting a small dose of epinephrine, or adrenaline, into the muscle. The risk of going into anaphylactic shock affects millions of people in the United States whose allergies range from bee stings to peanuts and tree nuts.

In 2016, the price was raised from around $100 to $600 for a 2-pack of EpiPens, and recently a generic form of the device has been put on the market for $300 for a 2-pack. Though the decrease in price for the generic medicine is significant, the cost places a huge financial strain on many families who must choose between their health and other important expenses.

By making the EpiPen more affordable, more people will hopefully be able to make their health a priority instead of having to choose between medical costs and other expenses, like rent and groceries.
