On November 30th, my son was improperly diagnosed with ADHD and O.D.D. the of course #1 option for treatment (though no blood work was drawn) was medication. I am fully against taking something without proper diagnosis or more research to determine if a more natural route is possible.

So to the Google I went, my first couple of days I researched what triggers ADHD, and O.D.D, and the first suspect listed was RED DYE 40, listed in tons of foods which you would not even know such as Pillsbury Pie Crust!, check your pickles my friends, dyes are also used to make them look fresher and more appealing.....surprising right!

I will let you do your own research on the ingredient but I can tell you whether or not your child/family member(s) acts out, you will likely end up eliminating these food items from your grocery list. Be aware that even though food manufacturers are required to list the dye on nutrition labels, they don’t have to specify how much is included. Your best strategy is to steer clear.

Red Dye 40, can also contribute to a premature diagnosis of O.D.D. (Oppositional Defiant Disorder), often my son would throw fits, tantrums, call himself names, argue, and have melt downs (aka panic attacks). Red Dye 40 ingested can cause Brain Storm/Fog affect which can cause confusion, distractibility, to the point that your brain isn't functioning properly.

Why do we use fake dyes opposed to all natural? If a product doesn't match the standard they (manufacturers) expect, consumers generally perceive that product as being of poor quality or no longer fresh. Since consumers base so much of their food choice off of a color, this is the main reason the food industry utilizes colorants to enhance a product's aesthetics. It is also a cheaper option for the most part, but I say Live Broke or Dye Young!...these are OUR children/loved ones. Dyes add no benefits whatsoever to foods, other than making them more ‘eye-catching’ to increase sales

My goal is to have the FDA, eliminate all food dyes as there are other options for changing food(s) color, and appeal which do a lot less harm then FAKE dyes. Australia and Europe have banned it at one time or another due to health concerns, I think its time to follow suit and ban them altogether!
