Rent control and lower rent law
Rent control and lower rent law
Florida need rent control. It's so sad that landlords and realtors charge such excessive rent. With rent control the State can cap off the maximum what a landlord can and can not charge his tenants. Rent on a two bedroom, two bath should not be over $1700. Landlords over charge for rent because there's no laws to cap off rent at a reasonable monthly amount based on a national and local average of a reasonable and more affordable price for the struggling tenants. It also should be more laws in effect to prevent landlords and realtors from taking advantage of its tenants and out right steal their security deposits by lying saying house or apartment needs repairs when they don't. They intimate tenants not to fight for their security deposits in court in fear of losing and having to pay their court cost along with the landlord's court fees as well. Landlords should not charge the tenants for walk through at the end of their lease. More laws should be put in place to help and protect the tenant and their rights from landlords taking advantage. I've lost so many security deposits because landlords or realtors intimidated me and I feared of losing to the landlords or realtors and possibly end up paying all court cost and fees. Clearly I wouldn't be able to afford that so I had to take the lost even though I had proof I took excellent care of the place. One realtor even thanked me for keeping the house in emasculate shape but less than 30 days later placed a claim on over $5,000 security deposit. they pretended they had better proof and witnesses that the house needed bogus repairs. Also the clause on the lease that "tenant agrees to pay for all court cost and fees if matter needs to be taking to court for security deposits" should be lawfully removed from rental lease. The laws are geared more for the landlord and not the tenants, and the landlords proudly execute that power excessively to steal the tenants security deposits.
