Reject Senator Farmer's under 16 boating restriction

Senator Farmer has proposed a restriction on boating, banning children under 16 years of age from operating motor boats with more than 10 horse power engines and sailboats over 10 feet in length without the supervision of an adult 21 or over. This proposal needs to be rejected as it unfairly targets young boaters who are vastly more qualified to operate a boat than the majority of adults. I, for one, have both my boating license and have been sailing boats over and under 10 feet, for 6 years. I have had the honor of competing internationally for the U.S.A. This blanket restriction would hinder the ability of many young athletes to train in our sport despite our vast qualifications. Read more about this important issue here
