Please approve statewide ridesharing legislation in Florida!

Floridians face daily transportation challenges across The Sunshine State. Thankfully, popular new ridesharing apps like Lyft now offer a reliable way for residents and visitors to get around safely and affordably. But several Florida cities have passed draconinian rules that stifle innovation. Recently, the Broward County Lyft community has experienced the damaging effects of such an onerous policy, which forced Lyft to make the difficult decision to pause pickups in Broward County.
As a founding Lyft driver in Orlando, I have experienced first hand the damage caused by this bureaucratic red tape, which puts major barriers in the way of entrepreneurial ridesharing drivers without any corresponding safety benefit.
To move forward, we need to modernize state law to support innovation. I’m calling on state legislators in Tallahassee to enact a comprehensive solution for ridesharing platforms like Lyft that eliminates the current patchwork of laws that confuse everyone, do nothing to improve public safety, and hold us back from enjoying the benefits of ridesharing. With clear statewide legislation that ensures sensible ridesharing regulation, we can fix this.
Lyft has the potential to bring our communities closer together and deliver real change – less traffic, cleaner air, and less drunk driving. Join with me in asking our state legislators to support ridesharing by crafting new rules that save ridesharing in Florida!
