Resentencing of Those Under a Parole Eligible Life Sentence
This petition had 1,831 supporters
We petition for this class of men and women to have their life sentences under the parole system to be removed and for re-sentencing to a term of sixty years. This term would be structured as a forty year prison term followed by a twenty year probation term. Such prison term would have the applicable gain time statue applied as per the date of their crime.
Such re-sentencing clears the state of Florida from the high cost of housing these men and women and would allow them to become productive citizens and pay for the cost of their probation each month.
We the families, friends, and ministries of our loved ones petition the Honorable Rick Scott to enter an executive order to clear up the defunct and abolished parole system and re-sentence all persons serving life under such parole system in the state of Florida to a term of sixty years, with this sentence being structured as a forty year prison term followed by a twenty year probation term, or to a term of years as determined by the Governor.
