Urge the State of Florida to Support Norman Hall Renovations at the University of Florida

This petition had 907 supporters

To the Florida Legislature,

We, the students of the University of Florida, request funds for the necessary renovations to Norman Hall in pursuit of modernizing research facilities, enhancing the quality of learning, and investing in the futures of students in the UF College of Education.

Norman Hall does not serve solely as the hub for the College of Education at the University of Florida, but also acts as an educational innovation center for the state of Florida and the Southeast United States. Here, $74.4 million dollars in research are translated into action through the development of STEM education and technology-based classroom advancements. In addition, the College of Education empowers educators with the tools to teach Florida’s diverse students through the emphasis on early childhood education, special education, and counselor education.

As the top education program in the Southeast, the University of Florida holds significant clout in the future of education nationwide. However, that influence is stifled with the lack of a safe and efficient learning space for rising educators. The renovation of Norman Hall would increase the college’s research capacity and enrollment growth by 20%, thus continuing to attract prominent faculty as part of UF’s Preeminence Initiative.

Your support of the Norman Hall renovation is not simply an investment into our university, but also an investment into the lives of students across the country. We, at the University of Florida, take great pride in the responsibility we carry to educate generations of students to achieve their fullest potential. We hope you will join us in support as we work together to make the College of Education’s home #AbovetheNorm.
