Wynee's Bistro at Florida Southern College has recently made the change from using reusable, washable cups for drinks to using single-use plastic cups. Not only does this change impact the diverse natural environment surrounding the campus, it is also far more expensive and wasteful compared to the washable cups previously used. We conducted an observational survey of plastic usage at Wynee's and estimated that between 3,000 and 4,000 plastic cups are disposed of weekly. We believe that by returning reusable cups to Wynee's, as well as distributing reusable cups in other campus locations, we can improve the beauty and health of the natural life on campus and lessen our total environmental footprint.
