The Beginning of the End for Single-Use Plastic in Florida

The Beginning of the End for Single-Use Plastic in Florida
Everybody uses plastic daily; it’s a durable and inexpensive material. Plastic can vary from bags, bottles, straws, and more. After you’ve used it, you throw it away, but it’s never really gone. Plastics are non-biodegradable and only keep getting smaller and smaller into microscopic fragments without ever going away. Those fragments are called microplastics, which are about the size of a sesame seed and are easily ingested by wildlife.
What plastics are doing:
- killing wildlife
- raising health risks to humans
- damaging the diverse Florida ecosystem
What we can do to reverse this issue:
- stop or limit the use of plastic products
- use reusable bags, bottles, straws, and more
- participate in local beach, river, or lake clean-ups around Florida
The state of Florida needs to ban single-use plastics to help end the addition of plastics in our ecosystem.
The reason why I started this petition is to make a change and not just raise awareness of this time bomb. We created this problem decades ago thinking plastic products were good inventions; now it's our duty to put an end to it.
