In accordance with Article 1, Section 6 and the 27th amendment of The Constitution of the United States of America, I hereby petition the United States government to suspend congressional pay until action is made by way of covid-19 legislation. The Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act, also known as the CARES Act, was a $2.2 trillion economic stimulus bill passed by the 116th U.S. Congress and signed into law by President Donald Trump on March 27, 2020. While this legislation was meant to address the precarious state of the U.S. economy due to the nationwide shutdowns, meant to combat the spread of the coronavirus that was sweeping the nation, it condemned many businesses to close their doors forever and forced our economy into a financial crisis that we may never be able to recover from.

In 1776 the Constitutional Congress issued a redress of grievances to the British monarchy of George III, this document became known as our Declaration of Independence. In this Declaration our Founding Fathers laid out the natural and inalienable rights of all men endowed unto us by our Creator, those being Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. The mandates that have been created to address the coronavirus pandemic (while made in good conscience) have infringed on each and every one of these rights. The lives of every citizen of this country have been unlawfully hampered, our liberties have been infringed upon and our happiness has been sacrificed at the whims of our elected officials.

And, while the country continues to crumble around us, our legislative bodies have made zero progress in the way of new legislation to address the poorly managed response to the coronavirus. As this government continues to force unconstitutional mandates on the general public and close businesses that it deems "non-essential", it has done little to address the looming issues facing millions of Americans - unemployment, evictions and lapses in insurance.

By suspending the pay of the delegates in Congress we will be adding a perspective that has escaped them during this worldwide pandemic - the inability of their constituents to pay for their basic necessities. This Congress has been engaged in an ideological back and worth and has failed to address the issues facing the constituents that voted them into office. I am hereby petitioning the government to suspend the pay of these elected officials until they are able to pass a new bill that will address, directly, the issues facing the citizens of the United States of America caused by the unconstitutional mandates enforced in response to the coronavirus pandemic.
