Florida has a rent moratorium since March due to COVID-19. Property owners are not receiving rental payments and at the same time they are prohibited from evicting tenants that do not pay the rent. The idea that the tenant will ever pay the rent in arrears is completely unrealistic. If tenants can’t pay one months at the time, it is unimaginable that they will be able to pay 5 or 6 months later on. The eviction prohibition has effectively converted private property into public property. Since when has America turned into a communist state. If the government wants to help tenants in need, it should be done without punishing the landlords. Help all parties. Provide rental assistance paid directly to the landlord! Reduce or cancel Property Taxes for properties that show reduced collections of rental payments due to COVID-19.
