Save the Sea Turtles- Ban Plastic Bags from large retailers in Florida

This petition had 131,808 supporters

Sea turtles in our oceans are mistaking plastic bags as jellyfish, their main source of food. According to the World Wildlife Foundation and the Loggerhead Marine Life Center, all sea turtles are ENDANGERED! Our team of 9-12 year-olds, The Hobe Sound Boys & Girls Club FIRST Lego League"Robot Rulers" are very concerned about the problem. Did you know that Florida has over 1,350 miles of coastline! We love our sea turtles on our beaches and our oceans! Let's stop the pollution!

There is a solution that YOU can join to help save our awesome sea turtles! Instead, we can use paper bags or reusable bags. Let's be part of the solution, not the problem!

Through our research, we discovered that California and Hawaii have banned plastic bags from large retail stores to help stop ocean pollution. We want to see the same thing happen in Florida to keep our amazing sea turtles and other ocean critters alive.

We have created this petition to ban plastic bags in Florida and are contacting our governor and local senator for their help.

If we win, so do the turtles, and our environment!
