Install traffic light on Stirling Rd between University Dr and Davie Rd
Why this petition matters
On 12/4/20 my husband was struck and killed when he was making a U-turn that he had made thousands of times, on the intersection of 77 Ave and Stirling Rd. He was hit by a Mustang that was drag racing and going over 100 mph. I was told my husband's car flipped about 6 times due to the impact and may have never seen the Mustang coming.
I would love to have a traffic light installed on the intersection where the accident happened to be able to slow down and maybe stop the racing and most important save a life. At the beginning the City of Davie had a speedometer, but it was only temporary, there needs to be a something permanent because Stirling Rd has always been a "speedway" since there is no traffic light on the almost 2 mile stretch between University Dr and Davie Rd. There are several "Drive Safely" marker on both sides on the streets, my husband is one of them. How many lives need to be lost!?!
Gus was an amazing person, he was funny, loving and caring. He was going to turn 50 and we had so many celebration plans. He was just one block away for our home and did not deserve to die due to someone's need for speed.
THANK YOU in advance!!
