Allowance of private RBT’s in Florida Public Schools for Special Needs Children
The law currently allows Private RBT’s into Florida Public Schools. However, the law does not define the amount of time allowed for the child. The law says the time will be “collaborated” between the principal and BCBA. However, the principal still remains the sole decision maker for the amount of time. The problem is many schools are only giving the minimum amount of time (1 hour per day) and will not consider BCBA or parent input.
Many special needs children need the one on one support of an RBT for success in school. The law needs to allow a set amount of hours based on BCBA and parental input in collaboration with the school. Please sign and support allowing BCBA and parental input to increase the amount of hours the private RBT is allowed to assist a special needs child in a Florida public school.
