Ronald Johns started this petition to Florida Department of Dam's and Lakes and

There are (3) major dams in the Lake Asbury Community of Clay County Florida.

(1) North Lake Dam - over spills into Black Creek located on Lake Asbury Drive.

(2) Lake Ryan - over spills into the North Lake - No Road over the dam.

(3) South Lake Dam - over spills into the North Lake as well located on Branscomb Rd.

These built by the Army Corp of Engineers are over 50 years old.  They have not received a favorable Dam Safety Rating for a very long time and at the present time.

The cost for upkeep and repair of these dams have been burdened only on the Lake Lot Owners of Lake Asbury by means of taxation at the Clay County Tax assessors office, currently a $600 per year per lot.

Two of these dams provide Transportation into a major portion of the Lots in Lake Asbury both the Water front and Ranchettes or Country Lots.

Studies have shown that the Valves and pipes are at the age in which they are inoperable or in need of replacement.

The cost for the repair and replacement of the  valves and pipes are of such an enormous expense that we request Federal Grants to fund this endeavor to ensure the safety of the Dams and avoid failure of the Dams during flash flooding that occurs often during our Hurricane season.

All help and Assistance would be greatly appreciated.
