Move Flint market to relieve traffic
This petition had 611 supporters
The market in Flint greatly increases the traffic congestion on a Friday. There is always an increased level of traffic on the A548 (Chester Street/bottom road) on Fridays during the spring/summer/autumn holiday traffic. Opening Church Street would alleviate traffic and also stop people using the retail park as a cut through.
The market in Flint was an integral part of Flint in days gone by, but now that Flint has the retail park, the market is of limited use.
The current one-way system on Chapel Street clearly compounds an already difficult situation, but even when Chapel Street was 2-way, the traffic along the A548 was already far too congested on a Friday.
People clearly use the market and it does have scope for encouraging enterprising folk to sell their wares/creations. This is not a petition to get rid of it, but to move it to an area that will have a less dramatic impact upon the people of Flint and those that pass through each Friday.
