Carl Taylor started this petition to Flintshire County Council and

Currently as parents, we are being faced with school transport being cancelled in Flintshire which will take effect in the next 12 months.  This information has only very recently been made public knowledge but to make matters worse, any Year 7 children (the youngest age) will not be allowed a seat on the buses during the remainder of the service.  The council with immediate effect are excluding Year 7 students from being able to purchase a concessionary seat for the next academic year.  Other pupils will still be allowed to use this service for the next year.  This affects us immediately from the beginning of September.  This has been done with no notice and no meaningful consultation.

Starting in High School can be a very daunting time for young children and as parents we obviously want to make this period as easy as we can for our child.  Flintshire Council are claiming that they have given everyone fair treatment yet the youngest and most vulnerable children will not be allowed the opportunity to travel on the safety of the school bus at least for their first year.  Yet again after paying higher council taxes we are having services cut.  This cut is targeting 11 year old children and is surely affecting their safety as they try to make their way home down lanes, across fields and along busy roads in all conditions and times of year.

We are not asking for free transport, we were always aware that there is a charge to use these services. We are just asking that we are treated fairly and our children are allowed to use this service for the remainder of the time it is running.  Please show your support and sign our petition and show Flintshire Council that our children's safety should always come first.
