Upon the recent lift of the overnight travel ban by MHSAA (Manitoba High School Athletic Association), we, the undersigned, respectfully request the Flin Flon School Division reconsider their decision to continue the restriction on overnight stays for school activities such as field trips, band trips and tournaments. Given our remote location in the North, we are already at a disadvantage with respect to access to a variety of school activities such as music festivals, cultural events and larger scale tournaments such as provincials. The vast majority of these events require travel that is impossible to complete without an overnight stay thus making attendance of these events impossible for Northern students with the current restrictions.  

Us students have put in hours upon hours of hard work to try to perfect our craft, in hopes of being able to travel beyond our town to perform in front of, or against others.  We have received the opportunity to do so from the Manitoba School Board, now it is the time to capitalize on this opportunity and move forward with extra-curricular activities.  Not only do overnight events and trips give the opportunity to show off what we have worked so hard to accomplish, but it also helps create lifetime bonds with friends.  Some of the most fun and memorable moments of high school are created during overnight travels.
