Bring "Selma" to Auburn, Maine

Directed by Ava DuVernay, Selma is a 2014 film documenting the 1965 marches from Selma, Alabama to Montgomery, Alabama (54 miles) to protest Southern efforts to deny Blacks the right to vote. Its nationwide release was January 9, and during that first weekend, its box office sales were second in the country, according to Box Office Mojo. Just today, it was announced as one of the nominees for Best Picture at the Academy Awards.
Selma is not playing in Lewiston/Auburn, Maine, and it is not clear when it will play at the Flagship Cinemas, our local first-run movie theater.
Four of the other top five grossing films did play here last weekend (Taken 3, Into the Woods, the latest Hobbit film, and Unbroken). But not Selma. Flagship is showing the film in Thomaston, Maine, but not in the second largest population center in the state. The film is a digital release, which the Auburn location can present, but it was not shown last weekend, and is not among new releases for this upcoming weekend. For the time being, local residents who want to see a celebrated film about a key moment in the civil rights moment have to travel to Brunswick or Portland to see it, or wait until the end of February (when, to its credit, Bates College plans to screen it). I don't see why that has to be the case.
I am one of several people who have called or emailed the Auburn location (207-786-8890) or the Flagship Director of Operations for this area (207-784-0931). Some of us have gotten responses, and some of us have not. Even those who have received responses have still gotten no clear answers on when, or if, the film is coming. Perhaps there is a reasonable justification, but I haven't heard it yet. (My calls to the ops director, over three days, have not been returned.)
Let's signal to Flagship (and, in turn, to their Paramount contacts) that there is indeed a market for Selma here in the Lewiston/Auburn area. If you want Selma to come, sooner rather than later, please sign.
