Fix underfunding of the Iowa Solar Energy System Tax Credit

Fix underfunding of the Iowa Solar Energy System Tax Credit
The Iowa Solar Energy System Tax Credit has been underfunded. Over 1200 homeowners will lose their credit due to lack of funding. The current funding source is not sufficient to meet the needs of Iowans.
We are requesting the Iowa State Legislature take action and create a guaranteed funding source by implementing a name plate tax on all utility energy structures. In 2020, at $1000 a MW, this would have provided over $21 Million dollars annually.
We are requesting the Legislature to create policy that allows easier access for Iowans to participate in net metering without undue burden of cost to implement or extensive time for review by a utility.
In addition, we are requesting the Iowa Utilities Board is given additional mechanisms to hold utilities accountable for abuses of power that have occurred to individual Iowa residents through developing reportable penalties.
By further expansion of residential solar, better adoption of net metering and improved accountability of utilities; Iowa will continue to be a forerunner in the development and expansion of renewable energy.
