Fix Taylors Road
Fix Taylors Road
Why this petition matters
If you're like me and have been stuck on Taylors Road, you know how bad traffic can get in peak and off-peak times.
The thousands of homes being developed in the City of Melton will result in a substantial increase in traffic generation along Taylors Road, further adding pressure to what is already a struggling and inadequate road that is failing to accommodate current users in Brimbank and beyond.
In late 2020, Taylors Road was extended west in the City of Melton to connect with Leakes Road, Aintree and the Western Freeway.
While the six-lane cross section will not be required for some time, this extension has increased the strategic importance of the corridor in the broader regional road network and the road is increasingly performing an arterial function.
We therefore urger the Minister for Roads, the Hon Ben Carroll to immediately address the communities concerns in relation to the continuous congestion issues on Taylors Road between Kings Road and Watervale Boulevard.
We seek that VicRoads declare the section of Taylors Road, between Kings Road and Watervale Boulevard (currently classified as a Council road) as an arterial road to be managed by the State Government Department of Transport to bring this section of Taylors Road in line with Taylors Road east of Kings Road.
We request that the Minister for Roads, the Hon Ben Carroll MP, allocate funding for the duplication of Taylors Road, between Kings Road and Watervale Boulevard, including traffic signals at the intersection of Taylors Road and Tennyson Drive immediately.
Taylors Road has been neglected for too long.
We need this road fixed and we need it fixed now!!
