Save FIU BBC campus from wrongful SGA Merger.

A few members of a constitutional review committee, commissioned by the VP of Student Affairs, Larry Lunsford, are fighting to merge the MMC and BBC student governments. Despite strong opposition to this highly unpopular and poorly planned decision, certain members from the committee are shamelessly pressing on. This shows a deep lack of care for the opinions of the FIU student body. This proposed merger will leave the BBC with little to no power and will silence the student's voice. Their plan is to leave BBC with 8 (guaranteed) senators to BBC and an (up for grabs) 32 senate seats with MMC out of the proposed Senate structure of 40 - BBC Campus will lose its importance. The students that are being ignored includes current SGA members, former SGA members, former Presidents and Vice Presidents of SGA, and many faculty and staff. But the committee continues to create this damaging legislation regardless of their constituents concern. This proposal to merge both governments is both unethical and unfair to the students. These delicate proposals are being pushed onto the students during finals week in which it is near impossible for the committees to properly engage the student body. In addition to this, they have no plans to allow the student body to vote on this.
We need to unite to give them a strong message about our disagreement about this merger and to send a message to the Vice president of student affairs at FIU.
