- I have started a petition in order to receive deductions in regards for the cafe and room and board. I feel as if we aren't receiving the quality we are paying for not only in cafe but resident life and tech issues too. I understand progression is "being made" or so they say, and we should be grateful to receive anything at all, but until quality has met all students standards and pay, Fisk students should receive deductions. First off the dorms was not clean upon moving in, and lots of students got sick because the mold most vents carried. In relation, we are not allowed to turn our air conditioning off, so we can prevent mold, but this is an issue because it's constantly cold. Second janitors, no disrespect, hardly do their job in regards to cleaning the building, I understand we live in the halls, but they also have a job, and bathrooms are disgusting, and missing necessities majority of the time being. Cafe issues have been addressed since day one, when it was sudden issue involving staff and our head chef to quit earlier this year, which left students unable to eat or left with lack of variety of decent food. Although the issue was "resolved", cafe still does not meet requirements in regards to cleanliness, hospitality, food decency/quality, food quantity, and some staff issues. We are paying high prices for meal plans but receiving low quality meals. Consequently, because of these issues, students are forced to order out, which is hard because some people hardly have enough money to do so, but we have to eat some how. This was addressed multiple times but administration does not like to return emails nor pick up calls. Technical issues involve the WiFi , yes the school has took certain steps to improve the WiFi issues, but it is minimum. Deductions will help students financially , and maybe bring attention to these issues for farther improvement. This is my first time starting a petition , so any improvement suggestions will help. Videos and pictures will be uploaded soon. This petition is strictly open to Fisk students and Fisk students only to sign. Thank you all Fiskites !!
