The problem:

Stonewater Crossing, an old community with established school zones, is about to be rezoned to new schools, with current and future Stonewater middle schoolers at Pioneer Heritage being moved to Cobb MS and current and future Stonewater Reedy students being moved to Lonestar.

This will cause deep. long-existing friendships to be broken, since all of these students went to or are going to Sparks and Pioneer Heritage and are now being moved away from their friends, who will continue to attend their current schools. People in high school who went to elementary school together will be split up!

This will also cause learning disruptions in an already disrupted environment due to the COVID-19 pandemic and worsen scores and mental health. Especially with the freshmen already integrated into Reedy! 

Rezoning here will only create a harder state of mind for all students living here and also, they will have to travel farther distances. It is unfair that communities such as ours, that live right near the schools have to move, to fit the criteria of the rezoning. This also creates estranged relationships with friends and teachers and administration staff.
Students knew from the beginning that they would go to these certain schools, but now because of the rezoning, many of them are having to suffer changing schools and not where they were supposed to go.

The solution:

This is, at the bottom of it, being caused by new communities being built and new students moving into current school zones, so we propose that these new communities be rezoned instead of our tiny, established community.

Why move the students that are already attending a school when you can rezone new areas instead?
