Multiple elevators have been out of operation at King Blue, especially in the south tower, for several months now. This has led to cramped elevators during a global pandemic and waits of over 20 minutes for elevators during peak periods.

While work is currently under way to repair the elevators, there are several practices currently in place exacerbating the problems mentioned above. This includes allowing moves during peak times and a lack of communication to residents as to the status of repairs. While we appreciate that according to a recent letter that security has the ability to call Otis when one of the functioning elevators goes down, it is not enough. There are concerns regarding safety and emergency access that are valid and concerning.

We, the undersigned, call on First Service Residential to immediately institute the following mitigation measures to improve the elevator situation at King Blue while repairs are underway:

1. Immediately cease booking any new moves during the hours of 8am to 10am and 4:30pm to 7:30pm. There are very few, if any, buildings in Toronto that allow moves during these hours even when all elevators are fully operational.

2. Commit to weekly email updates to residents on the status of the repairs until all elevators are up and running.
